Izzeddin Çalışlar was born in Istanbul in 1964. He completed his high school education at Galatasaray and is a Political Science graduate from Istanbul University.

From 1986 to 1996, he worked as an advertising writer, creative director and president of Istanbul’s prominent advertising agencies, Panajans and Her Mecra. Over the course of that decade, he produced a multitude of campaigns, commercials, and printed materials. He also took part in more than 30 commercials as an actor and advisor.

Since 1996, Izzeddin has worked as an independent writer and editor in media, marketing and PR. He is an author, editor, co-writer and translator of more than 130 books (To see the complete list of his books, go to edebiyat, editoryal, kurumsalkitaplar pages of this site).

His articles on art, travel and entertainment have been published in Turkey’s foremost newspapers and magazines, such as: Elele, Milliyet Pazar, Yeni Binyil, City Limits, Diners Club Mag, Fashion Guide, Marie Claire, Maison Française, Amica, The Guide, Esquire, Options, Gate, Turkish Time and Referans. He worked as chief editor for the following magazines: VIPGazette, Maviletisim, Uniclub, d’Art, Yol, Calvé Kadin, Tamcell, Sultani, Motorize, Rixos and Bizbize. He has also served as the editor of the international Maviology magazine for twenty years.

Izzeddin worked as project advisor and script and sketch writer in renown Turkish television programs including: Eller Yukari (Star TV), Gizli Harikalar Festivali (Kanal D), Oyun Içinde Oyun, Teletatil, Yaz and Gecesi Rüyasi (TRT). He produced and broadcasted for radio channels Energy FM, Radio Contact, Açik Radyo and Radyopop, as well.

Mr. Çalışlar served as creative director on the 2nd and 3rd presentation campaigns of EXPO 2015 and 2020 for the city of Izmir in Turkey. In fashion, in the capacity of supervisor, he collaborated with Olivero Tascani and Emir Kusturica for Mavi Jeans’ advertising campaigns.  From its beginnings through final decisions, Izzeddin he has been the editor for Istanbul’s candidacy as a European Capital of Culture for 2010.
